The necessary and mundane tasks of life which we are faced with everyday are inevitable. Sometimes we dread that awful ninety seconds of teethbrushing at the end of the day and look towards cooking, excercise and doctors visits all as bothersome tasks. Yes, they may be tedious and tiring, but these things deserve more than just agitation, and there is no need to feel bad about them. They are in fact the very things that keep us going. They are the fundamental foods of our existence, And when we choose to work towards our lives, whether it may be feeding ourselves or cleaning up our houses, we are doing wonderful and beautiful things for ourselves. We are actively participating in precious rituals of life and its ceremony!
So next time you are working your job, having a meal, or simply brushing your teeth, try mindfully engaging in your continuity to exist. Say to yourself when you are eating, because of this I will be able to experience one more day of life and the gifts that it has to offer. When you brush your teeth before bed, Know that your are showing your appreciation for your body and are maintaining it to have the best for you. And when at work, even though you may hate the that job you have; appreciate the fact that you are strong, diligent and responsible taking care of the things that you need.
As well as appreciating your effort and consciously experiencing these things for what they really are, it is important to set aside time specifically for the purpose of appreciating you. whether it be eating at a favorite restaurant, taking a day off to read and watch movies or taking time for healing and creative expression. Nourish yourself and do so consciously. Buy the chocolate covered peanuts and eat them with delight.
